Project Background and Objective
As part of broader health care delivery transformation efforts in Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) wants to ensure that evidence-based patient decision support tools (PDSTs) are available to Oregon’s Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs). OHA believes that effective PDSTs can help support CCOs deliver patient-centered, clinically effective, and high value care. To assist the adoption of PDSTs, OHA contracted with Oregon Health & Science University’s Center for Evidence-based Policy (Center) to create a toolkit for patients, providers, and policymakers.
To inform development of the toolkit, the Center conducted a needs assessment on adoption, promotion, and implementation of PDSTs with CCO Medical Directors, and reviewed evidence on PDSTs. The Center also identified best practices to encourage use of PDSTs at the point of care.
